Supporting clergy families has been on Jayin’s “what I want to do when I grow up” list for a long time, and she is excited to have joined The Partners Path team to live out that dream. A trained youth minister, Jayin has served many roles both in and outside the institutional church. She has a passion for standing alongside those who find themselves on the margins of society. In addition to her work with the Partners path, Jayin is a facilitator for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and coordinates a ministry to incarcerated women. She has been a recruiter and support staff for foster parents in Michigan, and staff member of Circles, a program that teaches adults to lead their families out of poverty.
Jayin has been a clergy spouse most of her adult life. Jayin’s husband, James, describes her as an “outsidest.” In addition to being in nature, Jayin loves to knit, dance, read and be with her family. Jayin and James have 5 adult children (1 clergy spouse, 1 seminary partner!) and 2 grandchildren.
Jayin currently resides outside Phoenix, Arizona.
"I'm so grateful for the connections I have made through The Partners path. Sometimes I am sad for my younger self who so desperately needed this community and I am grateful to be part of bringing the gift to others. Sometimes I feel like God calls me to all the hidden places to let folks know I see them there. I find energy in making space for the Holy be that while knitting, hiking, being with people or in silence."
